Experience the Power of Hands-On Learning

A week shaped by Alaska’s winter skies—where hands-on learning meets real environments. In Talkeetna, we chase the aurora, explore quiet landscapes, and build photographs through purposeful craft. Optional adventures like Denali flight-seeing and backcountry snowmobiling add depth and perspective, while daily guidance keeps your creative goals at the center. You leave with stronger skills, a clearer eye, and images shaped by the North’s most honest light.

Alaska in Focus is a 10-day field photography workshop that blends creative exploration, technical instruction, and real-world storytelling.

Traveling from Anchorage to Seward by rail, participants will document Alaska’s diverse landscapes and communities — from rugged coastlines and harbors to wildlife habitats, reindeer farms, and working fisheries.

The program is built around the idea that great photography comes from curiosity and connection.

Participants will learn to use light, composition, and timing to capture both the beauty and the truth of Alaska’s environment — not as tourists, but as observers and storytellers.

This workshop is currently in development and will focus on documentary storytelling, outdoor photography, and hands-on visual storytelling experiences throughout Idaho. Planned activities may include landscape photography, street and travel storytelling, backcountry exploration, and real-world photojournalism instruction.
